Resources launched for churches to address disability
Leading Christian disability ministry Through the Roof has produced three new resources for churches desperate to meet the 1 October 2004 deadline to make their buildings accessible to disabled people.
First is a CD-ROM produced as part of its Churches for All programme, a campaign to make all churches inclusive of disabled people.
The CD-ROM contains interactive training material to give individuals and churches an insight into the world of disability and the Disability Discrimination Actís requirements for churches.
It also includes the full text of most of Through the Roofís resource publications which deal comprehensively with both infrastructure and attitude issues related to the world of physical, sensory, learning and other invisible disabilities. On start-up, the CD-ROM gives options for standard text or a version for visually impaired users. The other products are available in alternative formats.
Additionally, Through the Roof has published, ëSignposting in your churchí, a guide to the use of signs in churches, particularly to meet the needs of visually impaired people. It has also published a completely rewritten ëGuide to installing an accessible looí incorporating the new Part M building regulations which will come into effect in May.
The CD-ROM is competitively priced at £19.99 and the other publications at £2 per copy post free from Through the Roof, P O Box 353, Epsom KT18 5WS or online at www.throughtheroof.org"
