Charity cards - a guide -2/02/05

Finding charity cards for that special occasion can sometimes be difficult. There are a whole assortment of charities, not to mention card designs and ideas.

But by bearing in mind three simple steps, you can save a lot of time and get to what you want quickly and easily:

1. Before you buy, see what's on offer. There are a number of web sites that will send you free charity card catalogues. There is usually no limit to the number of free catalogues that you can order. For an example see the selection here..

2. Consider whether you want a gift with your card. If so, why not choose a charity gift as well, and a card will come with it.

Two good examples are:

(i) The charity Oxfam runs a scheme whereby you can donate any one of 54 innovative gifts (from a chicken or a goat to blankets and clean water systems) to the developing world. They will then send a card on your behalf to the person on whose behalf you have made the donation, letting them know, with your personal message. Find out more here

(ii) Braille cards and gifts for the blind. Personalised Braille cards and Braille gifts are now available online for blind and partially sighted people, ordered through an innovative new web site. 75p from every card sent, goes to charity.

3. Do a search online using a special search engine. For an example and an online search, click here.

And that's it! Happy posting...
