Amnesty calls on Northern Ireland to take freed Guantánamo prisoners


Amnesty International has called on Northern Ireland to help the United States in their stated aim of closing Guantanámo Bay by accepting prisoners who have been cleared for release. This would be following the lead of the Republic of Ireland, where the Taoiseach has told CNN in the United States that Ireland would take, 'a proportionate amount, a small number' of freed prisoners. _________________________________________

Tigers under threat in Malaysia – adopt a Tiger


An alliance of conservation groups that includes WWF-Malaysia is opposing plans by the Malaysian government to build a new tiger park. The creation of the park is problematic and would require the moving of tigers from their natural habitat. WWF-Malaysia argues that this will compromise the Malaysian governments commitment to double tiger numbers by 2020.
