Church of Scotland appoints new social care chief

CrossReach, the Church of Scotland's social care organisation, has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer to head one of the largest care agencies in the country. with over 80 services supporting 2,500 people in need every day.

Peter Bailey, who had been acting Chief Executive since February 2009, will also be secretary to the Kirk's Social Care Council.

Bailey has worked for CrossReach for 18 years and was previously director of human resources.

Speaking about his new post, the new CEO said: “I believe it’s a great honour to be given the opportunity to lead such a great organisation. I’m excited about the future. There are many challenges ahead and we have a staff group who are enthusiastic and keen to take this organisation forward into the future.”

The Convener of the Social Care Council, the Rev Syd Graham commented: “Although Peter is a committed employee of some years standing, I would want to stress that we are fortunate to have been able to secure someone of such high calibre and we look forward to the future under his leadership.”
