Ethical election games: 'Follow the Leader'

The Electoral Reform Society (ERS) have produced a fantastic tool which will highlight how the big party leaders will be spending their time this election - targeting a very small number of marginal seats. It will be very revealing about where their values lie.

It comes after they pointed out that the election is already as good as over in around 400 ‘safe’ seats (or we might say ‘dead constituencies’).

The ERS points to the situation in the US and the naked targeting of ‘swing states’ in the US elections. All the money and all the leaders follow the few voters that can win the party the White House. Whole regions – the Deep South and Mid West – are taken for granted as a result by aspiring presidents, and remain largely ignored.

The political geography is rather more compact in Britain. But the big focus will be on a small number of marginal seats. The movements of the party leaders will also be revealing, and will highlight a great deal where their values lie.

ERS are asking people to let them know as the party leaders are spotted and move around the UK. The map will be adjusted accordingly.
