In a YouTube video, Alex Salmond - who is retiring from the House of Commons after 23 years - has echoed the words of Clare Short on Radio 4 yesterday about the decline of the House of Commons, and how smaller parties might help in a hung/balanced Parliament scenario.
Specifically he contrasts the situation with the Scottish Parliament. Acknowledging 'no democratic institution is perfect' he suggests that there is far more accountability north of the border. There has also been a minority Government, showing that parties can actually work together in a 'balanced' or 'hung' scenario.Tweet
