An interesting finding from a ComRes poll released last night for the Independent on Sunday and Sunday Mirror, suggests that less than a quarter of the population now support renewal of Trident:

Q6. In principle, would you support or oppose each of the following ...?

Renewing Britain's Trident nuclear submarine fleet

Support: 24 per cent
Oppose: 50 per cent
Don't know: 25 oer cent

The fieldwork was conducted ahead of the the Lib Dem conference in Liverpool. I'll be there tomorrow, doing a fringe looking at ethical and conscience issues in politics. The meeting is organised by Dignity in Dying.
