The public argument among Christians about the alleged blasphemy of Jerry Springer ñ The Opera, shown on BBC2 more than a week ago, continues to boil, although British culture secretary Tessa Jowell (herself a church-goer) has made it clear that she opposes censorship [0].

Writing in this weekís Church of England Newspaper [1], Joel Edwards, who heads up the one million-strong Evangelical Alliance, said ìI disagree that this is a serious satire on reality TV and contemporary values.î
