Ekklesia is co-sponsoring a discussion of the ins and outs of 'Big Society' claims at the Greenbelt Festival in Cheltenham, at 6.30pm on Friday 26 August 2011.
Does the 'Big Society' abandon justice in favour of charity? Or does welfare state thinking detract from love of neighbour, making us too dependent on the government?
The discussion of these and other questions will be chaired by Simon Barrow of Ekklesia, with Alison Gelder (Housing Justice), Bishop Tim Stevens (Church of England), Niall Cooper (Church Action on Poverty), and Savitri Hensman (Christian commentator and Ekklesia associate).
