The Conference of the governing body of the Methodist Church

The main Conference starts on the afternoon of Saturday 7 July with the ceremonial swearing in of of Revd Martyn Atkins as President of the Conference and Ms Ruby Beech as Vice President

Sessions start on Monday 9 July and run until lunchtime on Thursday 12 July.

Main issues to be covered are the current restructuring of the Church’s leadership and administrative staff, but there will also be debates on climate change, ethical investment and global development.

All sessions from Saturday 7 onwards are open to the public, but because of high demand admission during the weekend is by ticket only.

The Methodist Media Service will run a full press office for the duration of Conference, and journalists wishing to attend for some or all of Conference should contact Toby Scott or Anna Drew no later than 22 June.

There will also be an ISDN-equipped radio studio for broadcast interviews throughout the week. As with last year, audio of the main Conference sessions will be streamed live on the Methodist web site ( in conjunction with Premier Christian Radio
