Violence is a real part of life - but it need not rule us! We can develop skills, patterns, approaches to relationships, community living, the work place, our world systems that take us in a more creative, hopeful and peaceful direction. This weekend course will explore the spirituality and practice of nonviolence as a creative, powerful and effective force for addressing violence and conflict in our lives and in the world.
Based on the Christian-rooted From Violence to Wholeness programme this participatory course will draw on Christian scripture, personal experience, historical and contemporary examples, and models of nonviolence in action.
What we share can be applied in many areas of our life - giving us the tools, skills and personal resources to counter the fear and despair that violence brings. Participants are expected to take part in the whole programme.
The training will be facilitated by Helen Gilbert of St Ethelburga's and Pat Gaffney of Pax Christi.
Timings: Friday 6.30 - 9pm; Saturday and Sunday 10.30am - 4.30pm
Venue: St Ethelburga’s Centre for Reconciliation and Peace
Costs: £50 (individuals), £100 (organizations) NB. Costs should not prevent you from participating - please contact us to discuss.
