If you know someone who is into big cats then adopting a leopard could be your perfect gift.

There may be as few as 5,000 snow leopards left in the wild today. The two orphaned snow leopards, Alcu and Bagira, were rescued from poachers who had kept them in appalling conditions, hoping to sell them for their fur and bones.

As well as looking after the leopards, funds from the adoption programme also help support a specialist anti-poaching team.

The adoption is done through Care for the Wild International, an animal welfare and conservation charity. It protects wildlife throughout the world from cruelty and exploitation. By funding practical projects it makes areas safe for wildlife, rehabilitates sick or injured animals - including leopards - and provides sanctuary for those who cannot return to the wild.

When you adopt a leopard, you get a unique leopard adoption gift pack including an exclusive snow leopard T-shirt, a personalised adoption certificate with pictures of the cats, a snow leopard fact sheet, an update after six months and lots more.
