Support for proportional representation seems to be strong according to the latest poll from YouGov tonight which finds only 16 per cent of the population now opposing it and 29 per cent still undecided.
The findings will probably be eclipsed because the poll also puts the Lib Dems in the lead. But the latest YouGov poll asks:
Here are some proposals that have been made in the current election. In each case, do you support or oppose it?
Voting: Change the voting system for electing MPs, so that individual constituencies become much larger and parties are represented in parliament broadly in line with their national vote.
The response was:
Support: 54 per cent
Oppose: 16 per cent
Don't know: 29 per cent
Ekklesia is reporting on the polls from a perspective in line with our 'ethics election' initiative . This will include specifically highlighting what's happening to the smaller parties and 'others' who often get ignored in the polls, but could be important in a balanced/ hung Parliament
