The Methodist Church is on the brink of becoming the first British denomination to employ an elected full-time Youth President. The plan is part of a wide-ranging scheme to put young people’s voices at the heart of the Methodist Church.
The Baptist Assembly, held this weekend in Bournemouth (1-4 May), passed a resolution condemning the use of ‘Mosquito’ alarms to deter anti-social behaviour amongst young people after a passionate speech from an 18-year old Baptist.
More than 200 young people from many faith backgrounds, travelling from Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo, South Africa, Tanzania and the United States, gathered this month at the Kenya Youth Peace Summit in Nairobi.
The first UK Christian denomination to employ young people in a new youth strategy has pushed the boundaries of youth participation and aims to make a wider impact on society as well as on its own culture.
