Supporters of the Jubilee Debt Campaign (JDC) are sending last-minute emails to minister Harriet Harman in an attempt to ensure that the vulture funds bill becomes law.

An unidentified Conservative MP today (12 March) brought an end to the passage of a bill in the House of Commons which could have helped millions in poverty.

MPs have voted for a bill to restrict 'vulture funds' – companies that buy up poor country debts cheaply, and then sue for massive profits. However, the Conservative Party has been criticised for slowing down the Bill's progress.

Campaigners working to cancel debt in the developing world have today welcomed the publishing of the Debt Relief (Developing Countries) Bill.
