Fourteen leaders of the main Christian Churches in West Yorkshire have welcomed an Islamic report for its peacemaking efforts, and urged Christians to use it to build bridges with their Muslim neighbours.
The president of the National Council of Churches USA (NCCUSA) has said that the letter from 130 leading Muslim scholars to Christian leaders across the world is "a sign of hope in a violent world", and needs to build into a global exchange.
Archbishop of Canterbury Dr Rowan Williams has given an intial positive response to the 'A Common Word' document from Muslim scholars and religious leaders addressed to Christian leaders.
