Anti-cuts campaigns are threatening to oust Liberal Democrat MPs over their broken election promises and backing for public spending cuts that hit the poorest.

Christian students joined thousands of demonstrators in London yesterday to protest against government plans to allow universities in England to charge fees of up to £9000.

Students and academics have condemned plans to raise the cap on tuition fees to a “basic threshold” of £6,000 and an “absolute limit” of £9,000 a year.

The Student Christian Movement (SCM) have reacted with anger to government plans to lift the cap on university tuition fees while spending billions on Trident.
