The Accord Coalition for inclusive schooling has welcomed the Church of England's call for inclusion in education, and urged it to take practical steps.
As we report here, a November 2012 ComRes opinion survey commissioned by the Accord Coalition on inclusive education indicates that the British public is overwhelmingly opposed to selection or discrimination on grounds of religion in the matter of admissions to state funded schools.
Nearly three-quarters of the British public (73 per cent) would like an end to state funded schools selecting pupils on the basis of religion or belief.
Following the success of the Accord Coalition fringe meeting at the Church of England's General Synod in February, a further event will take place at the Synod in York, at lunchtime on Monday 9 July 2012.
