Two pro-life candidates have been arrested and charged with a Public Order Offence, after showing a picture of a 21 week aborted child.
Fiona Pinto and Joseph Biddulph are standing as Pro-life party candidates in the elections for the Welsh Assembly on May 1st.
In a statement they said; “Democracy assures citizens of the right to freedom of speech, and never is that freedom more precious than at the time of political elections.”
They continued; “It is both extraordinary and shameful that the police have chosen to press charges.”
The ProLife Party said it would stand by the candidates and “continue its battle to strip the blindfold from the reluctant eyes of the nation.”
Drawing a parallel with the deaths of children in the recent war with Irag they said; “the consequences of abortion are as horrific as the casualties of war and we were not spared any of the latter details during the recent Iraqi conflict. ”
“Who, for example, did not see the tragic photo of little Ali, whose arms had been blown off by a bomb? Or the tiny baby, swaddled in death with its dummy still around its neck, who appeared on the front page of The Guardian?”
“But what about the 21 week unborn baby aborted at the Calthorpe Clinic in Birmingham, reported some weeks ago in the national press, who was found lying in its motherís womb minus an arm and a leg. Did we care about that? What, we ask, makes a nation weep for one child and totally ignore the other?”
The two candidates will appear next week in the local Magistrateís Court on Election Day.
