The Christian Coalition of America has commended George Bushís State of the Union speech for its reference to sexual ethics and marriage.
In a statement that did not address the War on Terror or the invasion of Iraq, the largest ìpro-familyî grassroots organisation in America, singled out the Presidentís comments about defending “the sanctity of marriageî.
George Bushís comments were interpreted by the Coalition as a ìcondemnation of runaway judges who illegally legislate from the benchî ñ a reference to 3 state judges in Massachusetts who are addressing the issue of gay partnerships.
President of the Christian Coalition of America Roberta Combs said, “Christian Coalition particularly commends President Bush for his strong support for marriage only between a man and a woman. It was an abomination that 3 left-wing Massachusetts judges – acting as super legislators in robes – in their decision last year are attempting to force Massachusetts legislators into approving homosexual marriages.î
The Coalition also welcomed the Presidentís reference to make tax cuts for the American people permanent.
The Coalition statement continued; ìShould liberals have their way and the .6 trillion in tax cuts be allowed to expire, the American people would experience the largest tax increase in American history.î
“We urge Congress to make all of the tax cuts passed in the past 3 years permanent during 2004î Coombs said.
