Dixons has become the first electrical e-tailer to launch a dedicated ‘green shop’.

Dixons green shop, which is now a part of the wider dixons shop – is committed to sourcing the latest environmentally friendly products. Indeed, all the key products in the Dixons Green Shop are Energy Saving Recommended by the Energy Saving Trust.

Dixons, the UK’s leading online electrical products retailer, announced the launch of its Greenshop as the biggest one-stop-shop of ‘green’ products currently available from any electrical retailer in the UK.

Dixons buyers can now also research and source the very latest environmentally friendly products from around the world in the Greenship. Dixons also pledges to continue to add new green products to its range.

From the latest gadgets and LCD TVs to washing machines, tumble dryers and fridges, the Dixons Greenshop features nearly one hundred environmentally friendly, energy saving electrical products.

All key products in Dixons Greenshop are endorsed under the Energy Saving Trust’s (EST) Energy Saving Recommended scheme, one of the UK’s leading climate change organisations. The Energy Saving Recommended logo guarantees consumers that the product will save energy, cost less to run and help the environment.

The product range currently includes EST recommended LCD TVs, washing machines, dish washers, tumble dryers and fridges as well as a selection of gadgets such as energy saving standby switches and light bulbs.

Commenting on the new Greenshop, deVere Forster, Dixons website director said: “Environmentally friendly home appliances offer one of the most practical ways for consumers to reduce the impact they make on the environment and make a very real saving on their energy bills.”

Philip Sellwood CEO at the Energy Saving Trust said: “We are delighted that Dixons has taken this initiative. Having environmentally sustainable items in one place will make it much easier for people to be more environmentally aware when selecting household goods. We look forward to working with Dixons to develop this website and add information and features which will help people to calculate the potential energy savings they can make.”

In addition to offering a range of energy saving products, Dixons Greenshop also offers suggestions on how to adopt a broader ‘green’ outlook such as how to save money and energy by using electrical products differently and more efficiently.

The retailer is also working closely with its suppliers and manufacturers to achieve more efficient product design, including the phasing out of stand-by functions on consumer electronics, the increased use of sustainable materials and a focus on energy reduction.
