UN Security Council ends 13-year sanctions regime on Liberia
Acknowledging the sustained progress made on rebuilding Liberia after the 1999-2003 civil war, the United Nations Security Council has terminated an arms embargo against the country and dissolved the related mechanisms, namely the sanctions Committee and the expert panel.

Kidnapped Briton spends 700th day in illegal detention
A British man who is held under sentence of death in Ethiopia has spent his 700th day in unlawful detention, after he was kidnapped and rendered to the country by Ethiopian forces in 2014.

Good relationships in prisons essential to reduce suicide risk
Prisons need to change to enable staff to build relationships with prisoners and reduce the risk of suicide, according to research published jointly by the Howard League for Penal Reform and Centre for Mental Health.

Judge rejects CPS attempt to overturn arms fair acquittals
A District Judge has refused to allow the Crown Prosecution Service to appeal against the acquittal of eight anti-arms trade activists who were charged with blockading the DSEI arms fair in London last September. The CPS application to appeal was refused on the basis it was “frivolous” and “misconceived”.
