Christian Aid has welcomed the commitments that were made last week by the UK, Germany, France and others to increase humanitarian support for Syrians and the region. However the charity added that real relief will only happen when the bombs stop.

Just two days after declaring the official start of delayed intra-Syriantalks in Geneva to end five years of bloody warfare, the UN mediator has suspended them for three weeks following differences between Government and opposition delegations on the priority of humanitarian issues.

UK churches urge governments to increase aid for Syria’s people
Four major UK Churches have called on governments to provide substantial new funding to alleviate the suffering of the people of Syria including refugees in the neighbouring countries of Lebanon, Turkey and Jordan.
