    Catholics and C of E concerned about Public Order Act amendment

    The Church of England and the Catholic Bishops' Conference of England have expressed concerns about a government amendment to the Public Order Act 1986 creating a new offence of incitement to hatred on grounds of sexual orientation.

    Religious hatred law comes into force

    Incitement to religious hatred will today become a criminal offence in England and Wales with the commencement of the Racial and Religious Hatred Act.
