The theology forum associated with the Anabaptist Network UK meets for 24 hours in Leamington Spa, from late morning through to lunch on 2/3 May 2012 – and there are a few places left for reflective practitioners and practical reflectors who might like to join us. We would prefer to have people for the whole period, but day guests can be accommodated in some circumstances.
This is a ‘by invitation’ event, but if you have an interest / engagement in in-depth reflection on historic and contemporary theological work on Anabaptist-shaped perspectives and sources, do get in touch.
We have some engaging core sessions: Jo Rathbone is leading us in consideration of memory, identity and health (memory has important resonances for Anabaptists); Chris Burch is introducing and reflecting on the work of Bridge Builders in conflict mediation and transformation within the churches and a bit beyond; and there will be a discussion-based session looking at the re-assertion of Christendom, post-Christendom and religions as ‘vestigial states’ drawing critically on provocations from the recent British visit of Professor Naomi Goldenberg. Dr Jakob Fehr will also speak with us about the theological commission of Church and Peace, on which he serves.
There will also be the usual sharing of news, reading, research, discussion of publications and Anabaptist sources in the first session. Also a country walk on the first afternoon, evening and morning prayers, and time to talk informally.
The cost for the full 24-hours (full board, including breakfast, tea/coffee and two meals) and for the gathering will be £80.
