All Things Considered, the half-hour award-winning flagship of BBC Wales (radio) that is presented by Roy Jenkins every Sunday at 9:00 AM, will discuss Syria live tomorrow (Sunday, 5 August 2012) and I will be a panellist in the BBC studio.
The themes of the discussion will focus on the overall Syrian crisis from a spectrum of political, religious and humanitarian angles.
It is noteworthy that all communities are affected by this ongoing crisis across the whole country – including, of course, Sunnis and Alawites, but also Kurds, Druze, Palestinians and Christians.
Many of those communities have been displaced within Syria, sought refuge in neigbouring countries such as in Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey and even Iraq or else travelled to safer climes (as many Armenians from Aleppo to Yerevan).
Earlier this week, Bishop Declan Lang, Chair of International Affairs at the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England & Wales, voiced his deep concern about the levels of violence and discrimination in the country.
Also, Bishop Vahan Hovhanessian, Primate of the Armenian Church in the UK and Ireland, called for “a day of fasting and prayer in solidarity with the Armenians of Syria”.
