Co-directors Jonathan Bartley and Simon Barrow are not able to be involved this time, with Ekklesia being an active sponsor of the major Just Festival (http://www.ekklesia.co.uk/justfestival) in Edinburgh (149 events, 450 performances and some 30,000 people throughout August).
However, new associate Keith Hebden is going to be a Greenbelter all weekend. He will offer a prayer against drone attacks at 2pm on Monday 26th August, as part of a Workshop session on ‘Powers of Imagination’.
Keith is an Anglican priest based in Mansfield. He appeared in Lincoln magistrates court at the beginning of last month, along with five co-defendants, who entered RAF Waddington last month through a hole in the fence to plant a ‘Peace Garden’ and look for evidence of Armed Drone operations there.
He is also author of Seeking Justice: The Radical Compassion of Jesus. There will be a signing in the Greenbelt bookshop area on Monday at 4.30pm.
Another Ekklesia partner taking an active part in Greenbelt is associate (and former associate director) Symon Hill (http://www.ekklesia.co.uk/node/18882), who will be on a panel with Jim Wallis and Sara Kewly Hyde (3.30pm Saturday 24th August), and discussing and signing his book new book Digital Revolutions: Activism in the internet age tomorrow at 3.30pm and then at 5.30pm.
