Jubilee Scotland is taking part in the Festival of Spirituality and Peace in Edinburgh this year, with an event discussing the call for a new Jubilee.

Financial crisis is crushing the livelihoods and dreams of people in the UK as well as overseas, a situation that has led to an expansion of the biblical idea of a ‘debt jubilee’ – in which debts are cancelled and slaves freed – to include people in the North as well as South.

But can the debts incurred by democratic countries be considered unjust? And how can this movement gather steam in the face of entrenched opposition?

Join panellists from Occupy Faith, the Church of Scotland, Ekklesia and Jubilee Scotland to engage with this crucial debate.

Supported by Ekklesia.

* Friday 10 August at 6pm in St John’s Church, corner of Prince’s Street and Lothian Road, Edinburgh (Venue 127).
