We are pleased to highlight an very interesting half-hour vimeo interview between Ekklesia associate and Middle East & North Africa regional expert Dr Harry Hagopian with Catholic Bishop Declan Lang.
The discussion focuses on Israel-Palestine, with particular attention to developments and prospects in Gaza and on the West Bank.
The video has been posted on the Catholic Bishops of England and Wales (CBCEW) website and has also been shared officially with the Palestinian Mission in London.
The background here is that in 1998, the Vatican asked the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales to organise an annual meeting in the Holy Land where bishops from around the world could gather to stand in solidarity with the Christian communities there and the peoples of the lands of Christ’s life and ministry.
This regular event has been called the Holy Land Co-ordination.
As well as meeting political and religious leaders the delegations are invited to share in the pastoral life of the local Church as it experiences often extreme political and social-economic pressure.
Harry Hagopian is an international lawyer, ecumenist and EU political consultant. He also acts as a Middle East and inter-faith advisor to the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England & Wales and as Middle East consultant to ACEP (Christians in Politics) in Paris.
