Ekklesia’s analysis of Church of England’s latest church attendance figures quoted, in particular the link between under 16s attending churches and the requirement of attendance to get into church schools. Also mentioned is Ekklesia’s point that the C of E is taking its base year as 2002, quoting just a 2% fall, which is misleading. Since 2000 attendance has fallen 10%, since 2001 5%, since 2003 3.5%. 2002 was a ‘blip’ which if utilised in this way, makes the picture look much better than it actually is.
