Anvil Trust and Mr Paul Diamond

-05/12/05

The following statement has been made by the Anvil Trust:

“Mr Paul Diamond

“In a news item entitled ëCampaigning lawyer faces disciplinary actioní that appeared on this website on 4 May 2005, withdrawn on 15 July 2005, we stated that Mr Diamond ‘had campaigned actively against rights for gay and lesbian people’.

“This item was based on a press release, sent on Mr Diamond’s behalf, which described him as ‘Britain’s leading campaigner on Judeo Christian legal cases’ who had ‘been at the forefront of court battles involving issues such as Ö the right of churches to resist the gay rights agenda’.

“We apologise to Mr Diamond for any injury to feeling or reputation which arose from our editing of his press release. We accept that to support the rights of a party to resist the agenda of a second party is not the same as campaigning actively against the rights of the second party.”

An undisclosed settlement has been made to Mr Diamond.
