A Kenyan Catholic archbishop has accused politicians of misleading young people, including many Catholics.
Addressing a national gathering at Nairobiís National Catholic Youth Centre, Ruaraka, just outside Nairobi on Sunday, Archbishop John Njue said that many times politicians had misled the younger generation by telling them that ìthey belonged to the leadership of tomorrow, and that they were not leaders of todayî.
ìThis is misleading because you are the leaders of today and you must be ready to begin today to participate on issues pertaining to leadership. Anybody telling you to wait for tomorrow to be in leadership is misleading you” observed the archbishop.

He also told the gathering including representative from each of 26 diocese, that many times, local politicians had abused young people by sending them onto the streets for demonstrations.
ìThis, you must refuse. This, you must refuse. Do not allow them to misuse, and mislead you. Hold to your discipline and dignity tooî, said the Kenyan catholic archbishop, who also delivered Pope Benedict XVIís annual message to young people.
Archbishop Njue urged catholic youth to make use of the papal message.
ìBe firm to challenge the world. Stand firm and allow Jesus Christ to guide you both within and outside the Churchî, he told the gathering.
