Evangelist Billy Graham is in hospital after falling in his hotel room and breaking his left hip.
Graham, 85, had been preparing to go to the Mayo Clinic for a check-up when he fell.
The hip surgery and partial hip replacement have been performed at St Lukeís Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida.
Clinic officials said today they were not sure how long Graham would be in hospital but said he is expected to make a complete recovery.
ìHeís in good spirits,î said his spokesman Larry Ross. Graham will need extensive physical therapy but it will not affect his ministry.
In the past few years, Graham, who lives in Montreat, North Carolina, has been treated for a variety of conditions, including Parkinsonís disease and skin cancer.
His son Franklin Graham now runs the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
