Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs) will receive a briefing later this week on the future of the Church of Scotland’s social care programme.

The MSPs will be given the chance to hear about the future plans of CrossReach, which is one of Scotland’s largest social care agencies.

CrossReach – the Church of Scotland’s Social Care Council – will hold the briefing at Holyrood on Thursday.

Cabinet Secretary for Justice, Kenny MacAskill, will welcome guests to the event on behalf of the Parliament, before CrossReach’s Chief Executive Alan Staff looks at ‘Energising Scotland for the Future’. He will focus on 4 main themes – Reaching Communities, Reaching Individuals, Crossing Generations and Crossing Thresholds.

Speaking about the briefing, Alan Staff said: “At CrossReach we are committed to bringing new ideas and innovation to the social care sector. One important aspect of that is to work in partnership with the Scottish Government and this briefing is a great opportunity to interact with MSPs and also inform them about our plans for the future.”

CrossReach (Church of Scotland Social Care) is one of the largest social care agencies in the country with over 80 services, supporting and caring for thousands of people in need every day of the year.
