People from all walks of life are join a demonstration next week outside BAE’s AGM.
They will call for the reopening of a corruption inquiry into BAE’s arms deals with Saudi Arabia.
Campaigners are calling for an end to BAE’s ‘undemocratic influence’ within Government.
Tony Blair has been previously urged not to curtail fraud investigations into BAE Systems, following claims that the Saudi royal family wants them stopped.
The Saudi regime allegedly pressurised Tony Blair to halt an investigation by the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) into accusations of multimillion pound bribes paid by BAE Systems to Saudi officials.
Questions on these and related issues will be raised by shareholders inside the AGM.
The demonstration is organised by Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT) and will be strictly nonviolent.
It will include members of Christian Campaign Against Arms Trade, and others of all faiths and none.
Last month BAE admitted paying a private investigation agency to gather information on activists and groups including Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT).
BAE paid £2,500 per month to LigneDeux Associates, whose agent Paul Mercer passed information about CAAT to BAE’s Director of Security, Mike McGinty.
The BAE Systems AGM takes place at 10.30am; Wednesday, 9th May 2007 at Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, London
