Christian Aid, one of the UK’s Leading development charities, has launched a new partnership with Exeter Friendly, a not-for-profit private medical care provider.
The scheme invites the charity’s supporters to join the scheme, in return for which Exeter Friendly will donate 10% of the initial policy price, and 5% for every renewed year, to Christian Aid’s healthcare projects around the world.
The new partnership with Exeter Friendly is the latest of a series of successful corporate deals that the charity is developing.
It follows a Co-op credit card, Ecotricity and Aquaid.
The charity goes through an extensive ethical audit of companies it is considering working with. Exeter Friendly were thought to be a good organisation given their non-profit making status and high customer satisfaction, with 87% of customers recently saying they would recommend the society to a friend.
The corporate partnerships are part of ambitious new fundraising targets that the charity believes it must set itself to tackle poverty in the coming years.
Matthew Reed Director of marketing and supporter care explains: “Christian Aid recognises there are unprecedented challenges ahead in our work overseas. The impact of climate change, the food crisis and many other factors mean that we need to increase the level of our work substantially and we can only do this by raising more money. Our new partnership with Exeter Friendly is a great way supporters can give extra funds to our work, without it costing them any extra”
Money raised through the partnership will go to Christian Aid healthcare projects across the world for example in Angola where the charity is currently funding partner IECA to provide education to mothers on malaria prevention, the main childhood killer in the country.
