Edinburgh & London, June 17, 2013: A major festival of intercultural exchange, open spirituality and social justice will launch its 2013 programme and announce a new name tomorrow evening (18 June 2013).
The Festival of Spirituality and Peace, which lays claim to being the largest of its kind in Britain, is now in its thirteenth year.
Based in Edinburgh, it runs annually throughout August. Last year it featured over 400 events attracting some 25,000 people. This year it will be even bigger.
Focussing on building bridges between people of very different backgrounds, both religious and non-religious, the Festival encourages imaginative ways for people to foster justice and peace in a fractured world.
The launch event takes place at St John’s Church on the corner of Princes Street and Lothian Road, from 7-9 pm on Tuesday 18th June. This is a free event, but it is being ticketed through Eventbrite. You can sign up here: http://just-the-beginning-efbevent.eventbrite.co.uk/
The festival is both local and global in outlook. Initiated from within the Episcopal Church and among inter-faith workers, it is now supported by a wide range of civic, cultural, charitable, educational and religious communities, alongside the Scottish government.
Ekklesia is delighted to be actively supporting the Festival for the third year running.
As in previous years, there will be major musical, artistic and performance style events, alongside a lively programme of discussions and talks.
