The Anabaptist Network are hosting an important event on peace and reconciliation on the 12th March 2016.
‘Can Enemies Become Friends?’ will take place at Bloomsbury Central Baptist Church from 10-4.30pm.
David Porter is the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Director for Reconciliation. He is an experienced community relations activist, peacebuilding practitioner and community theologian and has thirty years’ experience in regional, national and international faith-based organisations. He will present two plenary sessions:
• ‘Who do you say that I am?’ Exploring the issue of identity and suggesting that conflicts are best understood as identity-based conflicts.
• ‘Peace without God?’ Breaking down a false dichotomy between vertical and horizontal reconciliation and valuing the repair of human relations even where there is no explicit divine component.
Workshops on various dimensions of reconciliation and peace-making will be led by members of the Anabaptist Network and friends from Christian Peacemaker Teams and Christian International Peace Service. There will also be books and resources available.
