Homelessness is found in every country in the world and is spreading with impunity, a UN human rights expert has warned, calling on governments to recognise homelessness as a human rights crisis and commit to its eradication by 2030, in line with the new UN Sustainable Development Goals.

100 Iranian prisoners told to prepare for mass execution
One hundred prisoners in Ghezel Hessar prison, Iran, have been told to prepare for impending execution following a pause in hangings ahead of last week’s parliamentary elections. All of the prisoners face execution for alleged drug offences.

The United Nations’ expert on torture has condemned the use of the death penalty in countries including Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Iran, saying executions are “tantamount to torture”, and barred by international law.
